Glenmorangie Spios

Description

The name Spios, refers to Scots Gaelic for ‘spice’, beautifully evokes this whisky’s origins. A spirit known for its distinctive, spicy characteristics. Spios has a herbal nose and a rich, spicy palate, followed by a long, sweet finish.

Glenmorangie Spios is the ninth limited edition bottling in the distillery’s Private Edition series. And to be the first single malt to have ever been entirely matured in American rye whiskey casks. Glenmorangie’s Dr. Bill Lumsden picked casks used to age whiskey made from a 95% rye mash bill for 6 years as the maturation vessels for the Spìos.

Tasting Notes

Nose: First entices with its fresh and herbal nose, hinting at cherry, clove and mint toffee, followed by scents of green grass. A splash of water releases more perfumed notes, both crisp and clean – and an inviting complexity of herbal tones.

Palate: Then, rye’s characteristic spice burst forth, as taste of toffee, clove and cinnamon mingle with nutmeg and sweet, buttery vanilla.

Finish: The finish is rich, sweet and lingering, with toffee and Brazil nut emerging alongside a citrus tang.、
